Corporate Prayer
Acts 2:1
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place”
There is something to be said about being in one accord. These people were’t at home praying individually (while that’s also important)
There is something about the people of God in unity & with one mind praying in partnership with the Holy Spirit.
James 5:16
“...The effective, fervent prayer of the righteous avails (benefits) much”
Unified focused fervent prayer accomplishes a lot
Birds in formation
When geese fly in formation there is one bird out front piecing the air. The other birds flying behind are in the slip stream honking, lending their corporate “yes” as they take ground
The lead bird after a while falls back and another takes its place pushing forward and the situation repeats
I see corporate prayer as being like this.
As one prays, the rest have the opportunity to lean in with their spirit lending their corporate amen to the prayer being offered; collectively pushing that prayer either by praying in tongues or being in agreement, but definitely being engaged with the prayer
So as each person prays taking turns in a corporate gathering, let’s all engage with what they are praying as if it were our own and let’s see what God does when we unify.
